At Grace, we know roots are important.
Our grounding is in God’s Word, and our stability is in the strength of real community.
At the same time, we are renegades, daring to follow Jesus into the risky work of establishing his reign in the midst of a thousand competing kingdoms. When Jesus launched his Kingdom-of-God revolution in Galilee, he didn’t start with crowds. He called Twelve. His invitation? “That they might be with him and that he might send them out” (Mark 3:14).
Rooted and renegade.
The Residency is a year-long leadership training experience in which Residents will be rooted in the community of a local Grace church while training in collaboration with the full cohort of Grace Family Residents.

Rhythms and Responsibilities
LEADERS WILL EXPERIENCE HIGH QUALITY TRAINING AND LIFE-ON-LIFE DISCIPLESHIP
During the year, Residents will be part of two week-long immersive intensives focused on leadership development and calling discernment. In between these, Residents will be part of monthly huddles with other leaders from other campuses to continue their on-going leadership development. In addition, as Residents serve in their local contexts, they will have opportunity and access alongside key Grace staff in weekly relational huddles.
LEADERS WILL BE GIVEN MISSIONAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES FOR GRACE INITIATIVES INTO SCHOOLS, NEIGHBORHOODS, AND CROSS-CULTURAL PROJECTS
Next generation leaders must know how to advance the Kingdom and make disciples in the real world beyond the walls of the church! Because of this, we will be giving leaders significant responsibility and support to launch local ministry initiatives in the neighborhoods, nations, and next generation. We expect these to include: leading Good News Clubs, discipling Campus Thrive leaders, working in Clarkston, teaching in house church, helping with neighborhood initiatives, helping to lead short-term mission trips, and other such opportunities. We expect these leadership responsibilities to be around 25 hours/wk.
LEADERS WILL LIVE IN THE LOCAL COMMUNITY
Through the Residency, each Grace church will help Residents identify affordable housing. Residents will be responsible to pay for their own rent and utilities, while maintaining a suitable standard of living and cleanliness.
LEADERS WILL BE PAID A STIPEND OF $800/MONTH, WITH THE OPTION TO SUPPORT RAISE AN ADDITIONAL $400 MONTHLY.
In most cases, it will be necessary for Residents to identify a local part-time job that can supplement necessary income further; local churches can help connect Residents to additional employment opportunity.
